Parsec Technologies, Inc. announced today the availability of the PT1201 HDTV antenna amplifier. The PT1201 is the first in a series of advanced HDTV antenna amplifiers that Parsec has designed to meet the Consumer Electronics Association specifications for improved digital TV reception. The PT1201 is a single ended amplifier in a SOT89 package with an industry leading noise figure of 1.35dB, with 18.5dB of gain.
The amplifier was designed to improve free broadcast TV signals for digital and HDTV reception for antenna manufacturers. The transition from analog to digital TV formats in 2009 introduced new problems for digital TV signals. Digital signals have greater limitations due to distance and other obstructions including buildings, trees and weather conditions that decrease the signal strength. The Consumer Electronics Association issued specification: CEA- 774-B, CEA- 2028 and CEA-2032 as a guideline for antenna manufacturers to improve the reception quality of broadcast HDTV reception.
The PT1201 was designed for indoor and outdoor antennas with a gain of up to 6dBi.
Parsec Technologies, Inc. is a fabless semiconductor start-up company that uses TriQuint semiconductor’s GaAs process.
